Well, New Zealand was a great place to learn the basics, an island of 4 million and friendly as. Got out and travelled as the Kiwi does and learnt some more. Music and people. That's what it's all been about so far for me. Here's some of the experiences condensed............. MUSICIAN Saxophones, Vocals, Keys, a little trombone and guitar Jazz'ish, Latin, warm Electronica, quirky Funk, singer/songwriter, Klezma..... It's been something i've never questioned, the musicians life, and have enjoyed everything. Toured Europe with two bands, Hampster and The Jews Brothers Band. Highlights... the North Seas Jazz Festival and Womad, Ireland and Norway, but all very jolly. LOVE touring. Did the contract thing in hotels in Dubai and Bahrain over four years. Full-on. Not very original music but a hugh eye-opener culterally. Only got arrested once, indecent exposure! (and no, i wasn't dressed like the 'cover' angel. Back in NZ i've been gigging with Sabor (latin jazz groove) and playing original Electronica with DJ Max Maxwell whose beautiful soul reflects in all his music. We are currently working on an album, and have enjoyed playing the festival circuit around NZ (Roots, Parihaka, Splor, Visionz, Uprising) for the last few years. TEACHER Taught at Polynesian Performing Arts School for two years, (Contemporary Music) and at MAINZ polytech for two years, also Contemporary music. Hats off to teachers, got to give give give and then some! OTHER JAUNTS Travelled for two years as a 'reporter' for a NZmusic channel (CRY T.V). It was a travelling diary and it paid for my O.E which is a Kiwi term for 'Overseas Experience' which we kiwis embrace wholeheartedly. It was called 'The O.E Files' surprisingly enough. Loads of fun. Went to New York on a busking in the subways adventure. I was rather shy. They largely ignored me which helped. What a place. Have snippets for a Cd called 'Sax in wierd places'....... will include some this website.....pending........
